Quick answers
How do I make G-code for my machine?
Draw or import your vectors, select them, then pick a toolpath on the Toolpaths tab (Profile, Pocket, Drill, V-Carve…). Set the board and your machine's post-processor under Board (the pencil next to the board size). Then Export G-code: the dialog lists every file, lets you rename them and choose the folder.
How do I test a file safely before cutting?
File ▸ Export Air-Cut Test writes the same job with every Z raised, so the machine runs the whole program in the air. Zero Z on the material as usual.
Where is X/Y zero and Z zero?
The yellow marker on the board shows the XY datum (lower-left by default). Z zero is the top of the material unless you choose the machine bed in Board settings. Change your defaults for new documents in Preferences.
Can sizes follow each other (variables, links)?
Yes: Variables ▸ Variables & Constraints. Type a variable name or math (2in * count) into any size field, and use Link (Arrange) to keep two shapes positioned relative to each other.
Will the spindle always stop at the end?
Yes. Every file GCarve writes ends with the spindle off and stops it before every tool change, for every post-processor, and each export runs a safety check first.
